Synopsis

This study presents a historical account of the forced expulsions and systematic colonisation of Albanian territories from the late 19th century to the end of the 20th century. Tracing events from the Congress of Berlin (1878) to 1995, the work examines the policies of Serbia and Montenegro that aimed to displace ethnic Albanians and repopulate their lands with Serbs and Montenegrins. Drawing on authentic archival documents from Kosovo, former Yugoslavia, Albania, Turkey, and other sources, the book sheds light on campaigns of ethnic cleansing, massacres, and the suppression of Albanian identity.

The study critically explores how these acts were hidden behind propaganda and political manipulation, while also addressing the international community’s indifference. Emphasizing both historical and contemporary relevance, the book highlights the impact of these policies on the Albanian population and challenges prevailing narratives. It offers a foundational contribution to the scholarly and public understanding of a long-overlooked chapter in Balkan history.
